Spirited Away Bento

My favorite Hayao Miyazaki film is Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, more popularly known as Spirited Away. Surprisingly however, my first attempt to present Spirited Away in a bento was unplanned.

Bento 119 Spirited Away Bento

Bento #119 • 23 April 2007
Contents:
• Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese onigiri in Soot Ball cosplay. I used cheddar cheese & nori for eyes.
• Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese rolls. Yeah, I’m addicted :P They’re relatively easy to make, here’s a sort-of recipe.
• Carrot sticks
• Ripe mango cubes, because Philippine Mangoes at the height of summer is something beyond words. What I wanted was simple enough. Salmon and Cream Cheese Onigiri. It was something I’ve been craving for weeks. To maximize the amount of stuffing, I decided to prepare them as balls instead of the usual triangular onigiri. As I was wrapping the onigiri in nori, one of littleyuzu’s older bento flashed in my mind, and I knew, I had to turn the little black onigiri into Spirited Away soot balls.I’m quite happy with how it turned out. Such a pity it was unplanned though. If I had at least one day to prepare, I would’ve bought kompeito. :)

That’s a great bento, Chrissy! Lovely site! ^^ Congratulations! I love the banner. That salmon wrapped sandwich (?) looks uber yummy.

It’s better than a sandwich. It’s a cream cheese + smoked salmon + lettuce roll. No bread, just pure cream cheese goodness. <3 <3 <3

Thanks miss_dian, honestly, I’m so proud with how the site turned out. So giddy with joy! :D

I forgot to mention. You can import previous entries from LJ in here if you want. ^_~ Wordpress lets you import some of your entries, if you like. ^_~

I’ve been doing that by month but it takes me ages to clean up posts (e.g. removing lj codes) and migrating the images. Hopefully, I can finish migrating the whole site by this weekend.
