Resto Leftovers for Bento

Do you bring restaurant leftovers home? I do. When there’s still a fairly decent amount, say one serving, even if it’s a small one, I have it packed to go. More than just to avoid wasting food, restaurant leftovers are perfect for bento because you can get away with small amounts of food.

Bento #182 • 1 February 2008

With just me and my mom attacking a Café Mediterranean Kebab Platter, it was expected that we’d have leftovers. So I already knew what I’ll be having for lunch the next day.

In a small bento, I put together leftover kofta, chicken and beef kebabs. The kebab platter also comes with pork kebabs but it was the first thing we finished so there was none left to be taken home.

Along with the various kebabs, I also threw in a roasted onion and tomato, still part of the kebab platter. And because I absolutely love them, I also included the leftover hummus and baba ghanoush, garnished with a black olive. For dipping, I also included the garlic yogurt dip.

To go with these, I packed along some pita, also part of the same kebab platter. Really, when you think about it, the only thing I did was get the leftovers wrapped, and throw them in a bento box. How’s that for fast?

I love using leftovers- those are always the fastest bento packing time for me which means more time to sleep! :)
