Kitchen Cow 2nd Anniversary Bento Giveaway

NEWER UPDATE: New stuff added!

UPDATE! If you guys would like to choose more than one, please do so! Unfortunately, it still translates to just one entry, but I’m still curious about what you guys like. Thanks for participating and showing interest by the way. I’m so happy you’re all game. Please forgive me for not answering each comment though, I have to admit to being overwhelmed! Thanks again and spread the word!

ps. The items in the stash are all brand new. I just unwrapped them for photo purposes, but they’re all new and never been used.

Kitchen Cow is celebrating its second anniversary on May 3! Yay! Well, technically not the domain but the blog as a whole, livejournal days included. My thanks to everyone who has visited, linked, and invited their friends over. You guys keep this site going.

Kitchen Cow 2nd Anniversary Bento Giveaway

To show my appreciation, and also as a survey of sorts, I’m sponsoring a Bento Giveaway! One lucky person will win a box of bento goodies. Yep, all the stuff in the picture above, yours. Sweet huh? I’m still keeping my eyes open for more items to add. When that happens, I’ll just post an update but you’ll surely get everything featured above. I know it’s not much but you have to admit, it’s mostly fun stuff. :D

What’s in the photo anyway? Well:

• 1 two-tier V-color bento box
• 3 clickity clack mayo cups
• 1 octodog weiner cutter
• 4 stainless steel vegetable cutters
• 2 Hello Kitty Jello Molds
• 3 reusable plastic bento cups
• 1 pair chopsticks
• 2 packs baran / plastic dividers
• 2 rectangular sauce bottles
• 3 fish-shaped sauce bottles
• 2 egg molds (heart and star)

Entries will be accepted until April 30, after which, I’ll put everyone’s names in a box then drawing one lucky winner, to be announced on May 3, the anniversary proper. I’ll be contacting the winner via the email address he / she supplied in the comments form to get his / her mailing address so make sure I can reach you through it. International shipping to anywhere will be shouldered by me so you really have nothing to lose.

#163, I think. It was a hard choice– I really had a hard time choosing between cuteness and the yumminess. I tried to get a mix. I like that your bentos are yummy and don’t sacrifice class for cute. Plus your pictures are perfect!

  2. Holly says:

WOW – what a fantastic haul of bento stuff in the prize stash! I just stumbled upon your web site yesterday in search of bento stuff and bento related blogs to bookmark to spend some time this week visiting. I came back today to actually read your blog, and found this sweet contest! Now I’ll have to go through and read all your old posts so I can actually have an entry! Fun!

  3. Judy says:

My favorite is the Panda Bear, #184. There were many that I would have liked to vote for but he is just so cute it would be hard to actually eat him.

So cute and SO yummy looking. Definitely inspired me to make egg chicks and to cute little scenes in my own bento.

  13. WombatGirl says:

My favorite? When you tested out your big Bento box on a Picnic bento with the so-so-yummy looking little oranges.

However, my favorite posts of yours are when you go over how to make things, like how to make curry, or when you talk about restaurants you like. Because then I can follow along. :)

  15. WebMS says:

I love #54, but had a few others as well, it’s hard to pick just one because there are so many cute ones! :)

Congratulations on 2 years! Time sure files! :)

  16. Maggie says:

I think I’m a joiner because it looks like other people have already mentioned this one, but: I loved the Kero-chan bento.

    http://www.kitchencow.com/2007/06/16/kero-chan-is-that-you-in-my-bento/

The reason being it seems to address one of the main things that I think bento strives for: making lunchtime that bright sunny moment in the middle of one’s day. It does this with the use of a single cut out, and the clever way he is holding the little bottle is fabulous.

  17. soloista says:

Curry bento! I crave spiciness, the way the oils roll around in my mouth, letting out the savory flavors rush through, leaving a parched mouth, and thus making me want more until it’s all over. It’s a cycle of ecstasy, yearning and satisfaction rolling over and over and over. It’s really my comfort food, curry.

After going through your archives and trying to pick just one based on creativity, what food was used, and originality…
I definitely find bento #171 (SeaMonster) to be my favorite.

While you had a lot of cute and pretty bentos I liked this one the best because it just looks so yummy! Which is probably one of the most important aspects to a lunch, the yum factor… anyways…
    Happy Anniversary!

  27. Carrisa Bird says:

My absolute favorite bento was: http://www.kitchencow.com/2007/04/24/spirited-away-bento/
I loved the little mock soot guys, they seemed to have such an expression (with their eyes) that I couldn’t stop laughing at their cuteness!! It made me want to pick them out of the bento and happily eat them!!

  28. jas says:

Although I’m not too sure if i can include recipe in this, but I would like to thank you for the fish fillet with lemon butter recipe which I was asked to go bck to the kitchen for making more during a potluck dinner.
I totally love your ideas of mix and match ingredents and also from left overs! no food wasted ^^
The bento i choose is the Daing Fried Rice and Salmon Balls, from this, you would have known that i love fish!!! and indeed yes, i do! It’s just easy to make and i even tried to make the salmon balls a night before and freeze them before i took them to work the next day! They are such a staple bento recipe and fills the tummy too!

  30. Brandy says:

I really like this one: http://www.kitchencow.com/2007/11/05/when-sea-monstaaars-are-your-bento/
Blinky the three-eyed fish from the Simpsons is a favorite of mine.

I also really like this one: http://www.kitchencow.com/2007/11/05/when-sea-monstaaars-are-your-bento/
because of how you incorporated the sauce bottle into your design.

  31. I have to pick the spirited away bento box. It looked really healthy and delicious. I like to focus on healthy foods and this bento box looked like something that I would like to put together. http://www.kitchencow.com/2007/04/24/spirited-away-bento/

  32. Holly says:

I finally spent some time going through past post, since I only found this site this week but wanted to enter your contest for your cool pack of prizes!

I knew I was going to have a hard time picking a favorite – either because of looks, ingredients, or even because of the post write up.

Although this entry doesn’t really qualify for a ‘bento’, I consider it my favorite post (so far, still have lots of older posts to view!), and I knew I had found ‘the one’ for my entry when I came upon your post on lumpia, which included the recipe.

When I was stationed in Japan, other than the Japanese food, I quickly feel in love with lumpia. I was stationed with several guys married to Filipino women, and they often brought lumpia to pot lucks. I have been unhappy with any frozen variation found in the US, and never really done a significant internet search for a decent recipe – always thought it just might be too difficult to make or require some ingredient that would be impossible to find here.

Woo Hoo – I’ll be trying out your recipe soon!

  33. Inga says:

just one? Impossible! All your bentos rock, I really wish you’d make me one every day! ;D I have two that I especially liked, All Eyes bento and the one with 2 chickens from Feb. 6 2007. I’m a sucker for cute food! And then, there is Calcifer and Sooties… oh my!

    Happy anniversary! ^____^

  34. Sydney says:

All of your bentos are so adorable, but the one that really gets me is the Tonkatsu Bento, #115 (http://www.kitchencow.com/2007/04/12/tonkatsu-bento/#more-39)

I love the little nori cows! How did you make those?

  35. Hailey says:

I just found this site this week too, and it was immediately added to my favourites list. I love all of your bento’s, they’re all awesome and look delicious! My favourite is definitely this one though, its just so colourful and adorable.

  36. Cla says:

Am I eligible to join? Hehe. But just for posterity’s sake: my favorites are Edo Onigiri Monogatari and the Van Gogh one. But if we’re judging on taste alone, I’d have to say it’s the one on your header — smoked salmon rolls! Wheeeee gawa ka ulit :P

  37. Céline says:

    A long-time lurker here… ^^
So far I’ve been too shy to comment on your beautiful bentos as mine are so inimpressive, but hey, maybe soon…
I admired so many of your bentos ! But the one that imediately came to tmy mind was a simple and delicious one, the curry omuraisu.

You managed tto magnify a simple omelette, green beans, carrot and beef. The colors and dynamics are so pretty !
Plus it features a very japanese dish and a philipino one ( to me your beef stir-fry is very philipino-style : a frenchie like me wouldn’t cut up and cook the meat until crisp).

  38. kelly says:

    #106 – Spam Musubi
    http://kitchencow.livejournal.com/31650.html#cutid1

Not the most creative of you AWESOME bentos – but it looked great – and I finally decided to try it!!! I made mine with Turkey SPAM. It was awesome!!!
Not sure that I would have tried it before seeing your bento.

Also love the ‘world’s tiniest bento’ – kawaii!

  39. Shar says:

    Hi, Kao, happy anniversary! :)

My favorite bento entry is your Chorizo Bento (http://www.kitchencow.com/2007/12/21/chorizo-bento/) because I love chorizo and it looks easy to make! Plus I love the furikake idea. I’d love to try making it for myself soon.

I really can’t tell you how happy I am to have finally found your site. More power to you and Kitchen Cow!

  40. Amarette says:

This giveaway is a very nice gesture. I particularly like the #074 bento in the cute three tier box and the Sep 9th, 2007 box – Chibi Dragon Bento. I get tired of trying to figure out how to tie my rice into the rest of my bento and I want to try a dragon of my own. Thanks for the inspiration!

  41. irine says:

Hi! I just stumbled on your blog because I was looking for more information on the folding sandwich bento boxes. I’m fairly new to bento so I continued reading your blog and ran into this post. That just led me to keep reading so that I could pick a favorite! I live in an area that has no special Bento stuff so I have none of the things you are giving away!

Even though I read back quite a ways I have to say that Bento #184 is my favorite because I just love pandas! Bento #178 came in a close second though with the little mouse!

  45. Chelsea says:
