Hey Kaiko! I don’t remember exactly what I posted previously (pre-crash)… but anyway…

If I win your anniv swag, I will attempt to make Bento lunch for my First-Grader at least twice a week. It will be her first time to bring lunch to school, and I want her to actually eat her lunch (she usually goes for snacks). Putting together a creative lunch will hopefully get her set on eating and finishing her lunch. Showed her pics on your blog and she’s been talking about bringing “mouse eggs”, etc to school. Winning this set will help us start our own bento habit. :)

  2. carrisa says:

I totally forgive you! stuff happens..
So, I posted before, count me in! ^^

  3. Nicole says:

I also posted before, for two entries (one comment and one blog plug).

I think I’d pack some inari-zushi, regular sushi, and for protein maybe some takoyaki or an ahi tuna salad. Nashi pears and apple bananas for fruit. Don’t know how hau pia would transport, but I’m up for trying!

  4. Domachie says:

Loll that’s okay, really, don’t worry about it so much :3

I’ve already posted before, but I’ll resume what I said: Some fresh quinoa or pasta salad in one quarter of the box; some cute quarters of fruits in another (like mandarine and kiwis, and a chocolate square <3), some salad with feta and lettuce in another and humm, what did I say I was putting in the other? Maybe some peanut butter apples, or something peanutty in general <3 Or a muffin!

  5. Leki says:

No prob! I don’t even have to remember what I typed last time, because there’s endless stuff I can put into a bento box like that. Right now, my choice would be some fried vegan crab balls, chop suey, kani salad and some japanese fried rice! :D

(if I post about this in my lj, can I have a different answer, too?)

  6. PJ Punla says:

I posted before; I think I said I’d put together a three-course meal of my best recipes and pack it off for my boyfriend to eat :)

  7. rainydays says:

So all we have to do is comment for a chance to win?
I would put some kimbab, chicken katsu, rolled eggs, and some fruit for dessert in it. ^_^

  8. jenny says:

I’ve never made bento before, but I’m excited to make it for my little princess’s snacks. She starts preschool in a few weeks, and I’m racking my brains on what snacks she should bring. I don’t want her to bring junk food. I specially like the bento cups and dividers, little kids like their food separate, not all jumbled up together. The mini picks are so cute, and I can’t wait to make Hello Kitty eggs! :)

  9. Au says:

First, Congratulations on your third year anniversary. More Power and God Bless.

Clear bento box with 4 removable compartments
    – I would put my husband’s fave baon to work, that would be a balanced meal of meat, veggies, fruits and carbs/fish.
I will include here the chopsticks with cloth storage case.
and of course a refillable soy sauce container.

    4 Animal-themed reusable bento cups
    – will be used with my little one who loves to bring food to share with her friends whenever she’s in school or having a pocnic in the park. I would put four different healthy foods like a pasta dish, chicken, vegetable and fruits.

    Hello Kitty Jello Molds
    – this is the absolute fave of MOI, I just love hello kitty, of course I will do my jellp vodka shots to share with my girlfriends in my provate night parties at home.

  10. jeicubs says:

“If you win this bento package, what will you put in it?”

I will put mini pancakes, mini donuts, cheese sticks, and melon balls with Hello Kitty jellies in the clear bento box. The pancake syrup and strawberry flavored donut sugar will go in the veggie themed condiments container. My daughter can use the animal themed bento cups when snacking on the melon balls and the disposable bento cups for sharing the goodies with her classmates. My daughter is going to school for the first time and this bento set will definitely brighten her day (plus mine too, ’cause i know she’ll enjoy eating her snacks!)

  11. Meghan says:

I’m boring–if I win, my daughter’s lunch will go in it. She’s starting first grade in the autumn, and she can’t *wait* to take her lunch to school with her.

I’m sure that I gave a better answer last time, but I can’t recall what it was!

  12. Debra Morris says:

I have little twin nieces, i will suggest their mom to use them, those are really useful as the girls like get snacks every 10 minutes for you sure they will be happy for having all they want to eat of course i would suggest my cousin to put only healtly food.
As these picks look really cute they won’t doubt eating what it is in.

  13. sorry to hear about the crash! i previously submitted so count me in ;P

  14. Minnie says:

Not being a very experienced cook myself, I would follow one of your delightful recipes to form original bento for my mother, perhaps with her smily,curly-haired face on it.She always has no time to eat in the office and ends up eating instant noodles,so this is a form of wishing her good health and thank you for taking care of me for so many years!

  15. angeli says:

I have always been an avid viewer of your blog but I have never made my own bento. My lunches have always been boring although I love to cook. If I win the bento giveaway pack, I would use it as a starter kit for making my own bento. To “baptize” it on my first use, I’ll probably put some kani salad (with some celery, just the way I like it), asparagus wrapped with marinated beef, jap fried rice and my favorite tropical fruit fruit maki :)

    Congrats on your anniversary! :)

  16. http://bentoriffic.blogspot.com/2009/05/another-giveaway.html

I’m one of the lost entries! But here’s the post on my blog that I used before, so I hope that counts! =D

  17. Sara says:

hey, I blogged your giveaway here .. check it out ~ :)
    {http://sara-aj.blogspot.com/2009/05/giveawayz-rock.html}
    ——————–(^.^)————–
I’m so new to the whole japanese world, I enjoy looking at those useless cuteness stuff, I love your bento boxes designs and everything about the japanese culture, I’m kind of facing a problem in building a bento cuz I’ve never tried it!!
I’ll be making some of my own arabia onrigi and my own Halal food, using meat or chicken or even sausages .. :) anyway thanks for this chance I love you!! <3

  18. bumblebee says:

whoa~ that’s one nasty crash – it happened at such an inconvenient time for you! but no worries, it happens (unfortunately) =). forget about it, and let’s have some bento goodness!
if i win the bento, i would put in sushi and my favorite fish katsu, and lots of sweet desserts (because i cannot live without desserts) =D

  19. Yesenia says:

Ooh, I think one of the compartments would have rice of course! With yummy furikake sprinkled on top. The other one would have fruits such as strawberries, grapes, and mango. The other one I would a salad or maybe some pasta. For the fourth one I would add maybe some little homemade pizzas… and make them look cute. ^^ Also of course decorate it super cute, and then eat it outside on a sunny day! XD Ahh~ Maybe I should go do that right now!

    Congrats to KC’s 3rd Anniv! <3

  20. tina says:

Yay what a cute bento set!

Hmm, I have so many options for what to put in. I’m studying for the bar exam right now and have to make the best use of my time so bentos are perfect! (plus i can control portion size-always needed)

The meal I’m working on right now would be bite-size tomato cup sushi with some stir-fried beef with ginger and eggs. That’s what I’d put in the bento if it was this week. But I’m always making something new!

  21. Carolyn G says:

    I love this prize!! THanks.

I would put some grilled chicken, some seasame noodles, rice and a cabbage salad. THen I would add some fruit and some raw carrots!

  22. Athena says:

WHEW! Lucky that I had put this on my blog so that I could get that extra raffle! Um, it’s pretty much the same thing I posted on there.

Don’t really want to copy/paste the entire paragraph at 3:20 in the morning so I’ll just leave the link here. XD

  23. kymee says:

First off, if I win the bento package, I would most definatly use those hello kitty jello molds! Say hello to cute hello kitty cherry jello! The jello would be surrounded by a few fresh cherries. With that being packed I would also put in my faves for bento: rice with spicy cooked tuna(yum) edamame(double yum) and bacon wrapped asparagus (triple YUM).

  24. Marlena says:

I would do 4 items for 4 boxes of course. 1- White rice, 2- Garbanxo beans PR style, 3-fried plantains and 4-mango. This is my favorite meal. Thanks for the contest and your blog ideas.

  25. Stephanie says:

I would probably try to make a themed bento lunch of the seasons.

The top left would be – Spring – vegetable flowers (radishes, tomato), flowers made of egg sheets. The toothpicks would come in handy for this one!

The top right would be – Summer – rice dyed with a bluish tint and edamame palm trees so it would be a sandy beach.

Bottom left would be – Fall – Probably use fall colours to make a sweet potato curry, which the cups would be good for!

Bottom right would be – Winter – a base of rice with egg snowmen and radish snowflakes! Though to eat it, I’d probably use the soy sauce containers :)

  26. osulolli says:

If I got this bento, I’d make a cute greek food themed bento with some yummy falafel. Why? Because I’m hungry right now and that’s what I am dreaming of…only 15 more minutes until I can leave work and make dinner!

  27. thine genavia says:

well if i win your vento box, i’ll make the most delicious siomai and carbonara dish you’ll ever taste. i’ll have my 2 year old son help me with it and you guessed it right im gonna put a huge serving for you..

    :D

  28. Monette says:

I’d put in Kani SAlad, Sushi and Tempura

  29. Kyameel says:

I will prepare healthy lunch box for my hubby. Or anything he requests be put in it. :)

I have recently been practicing how to cook, and preparing boxed lunches for the both of us is a part of the morning routine. Packing our own lunches is worthwhile for me, and saves a lot of money!

Here’s my blog entry for this.

  30. ALIZAAA says:

I’ll prepare my first ever bento food using this freebies I’ll receive :) I don’t know pa what will specifically food it is but it will be tasty :)

    Btw, congratulations to you :)

  31. Bonnie Tse says:

I love your website! If I won this bento set, I’d use it as much as I can to pack super cute lunches for my 2.5 year old daughter. She loves anything you make. She says, “oh, that’s so cute!” I use your ideas often for ideas on what to pack for my daughter. I’ll most likely do a lot of hot dog octopi since they’re so yummy and easy to make…little rice balls…oh, I’m excited just thinking about all the things I could make. Thanks for posting all these wonderful things!

  32. Drew says:

Grats on your 3rd year again! If I won this bento I’d put some:

    -Pickled Quail Eggs
-Bangus Belly with Lemon Sauce and Garlic Bits
    -Plain Rice topped with Furikake
    -Sliced Pineapples for Dessert!

  33. Chau Vo says:

If I were to win this, Id would be fantastic. I enjoy making bentos for my boyfriend, the only down side is i dont have all the materials i quite need. this set looks great! Hmm as for the bento..

top left- salmon cream cheese lettuce wraps on a bed of cherry tomatoes and cucumbers
top right- macaroni and cheese with 2 small octodogs on top/ginger/soy sauce stir fry
bottom left-2 pis shaped onigiris filled with Vietnamese marinated chicken
bottom right- a few small sesame balls filled with sweet mung bean

this is only an appetizer considering he eats alot. and i will probably have a main dish in a seperate more bigger bento box that isnt divided into 4 sections. if i decide not to do those, then i will fill all for squares with rice, and since it is summer, i will make it summer themed.

top left- sun made from tamago and a bit of clouds from cauliflower that will fo over into the top right box.
top right-cauliflower (cont) with birds made form nori
bottom left and right-rice will be colored very light blue. have use seaweed salad for actual seaweed and make fish from cheese and nori and have some marinated chicken as rocks.

hope you enjoyed reading this and you can understand the picture!

^this is a little rant-slash-post that I wrote upon seeing this.

  35. Pia Saveron says:

My husband hates vegetables and dislikes japanese stuff including bento. I’ve been trying to convince him that food can be cute and tasty at the same time. If I win, I would be placing his everyday lunch baon in the bento and I’d shape the food into little animals even if he’ll never admit he loves childish things. I’ll put hotdogs like octopi, rice shaped like pigs and vegetables shaped into things so cute to eat he can’t resist them. If he sees that, hopefully he won’t say no the next time I ask him to buy me bento related stuff.

  36. Nicola says:

    If I won I’d pack the following…

    – mini meatballs with a small lidded container of garlicy yoghurt,
    – mini pita breads,
    – some black bean and corn salsa salad and
    – in the last container some fruit (probably slices of apple or orange as those are in season now).

  37. Raelena says:

ive never made a bento before so if I won I would put it all to good use trying! I know i would include lots of fruits and veggies in my bento. Maybe some chicken salad too.

  38. Faye says:

Oh, that stinks about the crash! But stuff happens :p

If I won the bento set, I’d finally be able to make myself a bento for the first time after dreaming about it!! :D I think I’d put in a mini serving of my homemade three-cheese macaroni and cheese which I freeze, so that as it defrosts it keeps everything nice and cool until lunch time. I’d utilize the lovely veggies blooming in my garden right now, especially the baby yellow tomatoes, zucchini, and cucumbers. Those would probably get cut up and tossed onto a bed of spinach. Then I’d put some balsamic vinegar and olive oil into one of those sauce containers from the giveaway, and voila! A bento meal(: Knowing me, I’d also try to include a little something sweet like a jello cup, and snacks for later in the day like a string cheese or Ritz and peanut butter.

I’d love to make a bento with Japanese recipes some day, but since it would be my first, I’d use things I’m familiar with(:

  39. faith says:

If I were to win, I would pack a bento with Inari sushi, chicken katsu, salad and kimchee.

  40. Faye says:

If I won this bento set, I would put chap chae, rice with furikake and takuan on it, teriyaki meatballs and tamago roll. Yummy!

  41. mench says:

Your website has inspired me so much and winning this bento giveaway would definitely turn this inspiration into an obsession of creating such irresistable bento meals for my 2 boys (so now i hope you can give me 2, LOL). I’d make it look so enticing so they can skip their usual chicken-rice-and-gravy meal. I am thinking of starting off with your patis and lemon fried chicken bento just to keep up with their favorite chicken dish and make use of the animal themed reusable bento cups by filling them with rice. I’ll probably finish it off with the jello using the cute kitty molds, and also thinking of running to the grocery store right now to start buying my nori and other bento stuff. Thanks for the inspiration.

  42. Catherine says:

Happy 3rd Anniversary!I love your blog. If I were to win, I will use the bento cups to mold some cooked rice with furikake mix and create obento lunch on the 4 removable compartments. First one will be pork donburi topped with fried quail egg. Second, will be obento theme inside a kitchen in order to use the baran dividers. Third, for the hello kitty mold, will create a mocha and milk 2 tone gelatine and topped with whipped cream and sliced strawberries. Last one, will create mango kani salad topped with japanese mayonnaise. As for the animal themed disposable bento, I would cook takoyaki balls and its sauces. Thank you!

  43. Pam says:

If I win, I will put in oyakodon, zaru soba, sushi, and of course plenty of edamame. :)

  44. marcie says:

if i won this package, i’d have a blast preparing all sorts of colorful bento. tempura, bacon-wrapped asparagus, buttered pearl potatoes, and a medley of fresh fruits are on top of my list so they’d be the first ones in!

  45. Jaja says:

I posted before too. I’ll use the stuff to wow my officemates with my “baon” as I usually do whenever I get creative with my bento stuff =)

  46. lace roman says:

I’m not a master in the kitchen but I do try my best (: I will put in my weekly efforts in this bento (usually inspired by recipes from Yummy or Real Simple) and force my boyfriend to enjoy every bite of my many attempts in the kitchen!

  47. Tinster says:

hi kaoko! i joined in pre-crash. pls count me in!

congratulations and keep on posting! :)

  48. Mike says:

I’ve always wanted to try your posted bento recipes. Getting this set would make things easier. Also I plan to make a bento and woo someone special ^_^
