Sweet Bella’s Sweet Endings
Unlike some restaurants where desserts are mediocre, Melo’s desserts are the perfect complement to their steaks. Their desserts are conceptualized and executed by Sweet Bella, a dessert specialty company owned by Chef Cristina Santiago-Rivera, one of the second generation Santiagos behind Melo’s. Sweet Bella’s desserts are both delicious and beautiful, with little details that will please the eyes long before they start tantalizing your tastebuds.
We tried the Chocolata, your standard moist chocolate cake, layered and topped with rich chocolate ganache then decorated with chocolate curls and a dainty butterfly. Theoretically, it was just a chocolate cake. But flavorwise, it was so rich with hints of dark chocolate, taking your “usual” chocolate cake to the next level.
We also had the Midnight Hazel Crunch, a velvety dark chocolate mousse enrobed in chocolate. Silky goodness that spreads on your tongue. Easily one of my favorites.
There was also the Mangotier, a light mango cheesecake layered with mango mousse. The combination makes it much lighter than your usual cheesecake, so it doesn’t overwhelm you, even after a full meal.
Lastly, I got to try the Trio Mousse, a light creamy confection made of three layers. A dense dark chocolate layer, followed by a lighter milk chocolate, then a fluffy vanilla creme. Chef Cristina claims people compared it to ice cream and I must agree with their comparison.
A sweet ending to a delightful meal, accompanied by a soothing atmosphere and excellent service, Melo’s is definitely a good choice for treating your dads out for Father’s Day. Or any day for that matter. I know I’d love to have more of those delightful steaks.

Love Melo’s! I like it better than Elbert’s.

Hi Kao
do you know what’s the name of the steakplace in ugong, pasig? the one before the skyway going to Libis?
@Alex
Really? Wow, big statement. I haven’t tried Elbert’s but I’ve been meaning to. Now you have me really curious, especially since Elbert’s is loads more expensive.
@Bea
Order something small, or mebbe split with someone. Isama mo si Leki, tagaubos
@ziggy
Is it good?
Sorry, but not familiar with it. Not my area so I never get to explore
Maybe it’s cos we had wagyu at Melo’s. Even when the steak turned cold, it was still soft and delicious. With Elbert’s (last time I checked, they didn’t have wagyu), after a while, the steak got a little tough to chew. I dunno, I just really like wagyu’s texture and how it melts in your mouth. yumyum. I could compare because I ate in both restos the same week.
@kao i think that is one of the earliest steakhouses in manila. FPJ and Erap frequent the place way back the 90′s. It was sort of famous before outback and tony roma. i can’t remember the name. i ate there before and all i remember was their beautiful gravy. which was not even a red wine reduction.
@Alex
Ah, mebbe that was it. But then, whatever makes you happier is the best steak option, IMO
@ziggy
Wow, pang celeb! It’s wonderful you were able to eat there then. Here’s to hoping you’d be able to visit it again, and SOON!
hello kaoko! hope you don’t mind, i borrowed your porterhouse picture. will provide the proper attribution. if you don’t like it, i can easily take it down. see it on the Melo’s FB page.
