Kitchen Cow Readers’ Favorites

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

In celebration of Kitchen Cow’s Second Anniversary, I’d love to present the favorite bento entries as chosen by you guys. Some of these are my favorites as well, while some are surprise entrants. Still, I love hearing your feedback so tallying everyone’s comments was a fun, albeit rigorous task. So, here they are, your favorites!

More Bento Stuff to Giveaway!

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

I’ve been overwhelmed by the entries that I’ve decided to up the ante a bit. Luckily, I found a few more interesting items during my most recent bento foray so here’s three more things to add to the set.

More Bento to Giveaway!

• A small V-color box, perfect for side dishes and desserts.
• A collapsible V-color sandwich box. I love mine to bits so I’m sure you’ll like it as well. (Sadly, it’s a bit scuffed. I think they gave me a display set :( )
• A V-color utensil set which contains a spoon, a fork, and chopsticks. The packaging suggests that it can be slipped into the top compartment of the V-color 2-tier set that’s also included in the giveaway.

If you’d like to have these things, it’s not too late to sign up and join the giveaway. You have until April 30, 2008.

Just my way of saying thanks! Once again, to all who participated, Maraming salamat!

NEWER UPDATE: New stuff added!

UPDATE! If you guys would like to choose more than one, please do so! Unfortunately, it still translates to just one entry, but I’m still curious about what you guys like. Thanks for participating and showing interest by the way. I’m so happy you’re all game. Please forgive me for not answering each comment though, I have to admit to being overwhelmed! Thanks again and spread the word!

ps. The items in the stash are all brand new. I just unwrapped them for photo purposes, but they’re all new and never been used.

Kitchen Cow is celebrating its second anniversary on May 3! Yay! Well, technically not the domain but the blog as a whole, livejournal days included. My thanks to everyone who has visited, linked, and invited their friends over. You guys keep this site going.

Kitchen Cow 2nd Anniversary Bento Giveaway

To show my appreciation, and also as a survey of sorts, I’m sponsoring a Bento Giveaway! One lucky person will win a box of bento goodies. Yep, all the stuff in the picture above, yours. Sweet huh? I’m still keeping my eyes open for more items to add. When that happens, I’ll just post an update but you’ll surely get everything featured above. I know it’s not much but you have to admit, it’s mostly fun stuff. :D

Calcifer (Howl’s Moving Castle) Bento

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

For this week, Bento Challenge posed a very broad topic, Stars. I love broad topics since it turns the conceptualization process a challenge in itself. Rising to the plate is my entry for the Stars challenge, a Calcifer bento.

Calcifer is a fire demon from one of my favorite books, Diana Wynne Jones’ Howl’s Moving Castle. As the book was eventually turned into Hayao Miyazaki’s Hauru no Ugoku Shiro (Howl’s Moving Castle), I opted to model Calcifer from the anime rather than the book because it’s difficult to find blues and purples in food. Wait! How does that fit in with the theme? Well, I return the question to you guys. Onigiri for those who can make the theme challenge connection! :D

Bento #135 • 22 June 2007

Guess the theme connection!
Note: For those who’ve neither read the book nor watched the anime, it can get spoilery. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

site update

Friday, June 8th, 2007

No bento or food related update today. But I’d like to inform regular visitors of a few changes I’ve made.

  • Kitchen Cow migration is more than halfway done. Only 70 posts ported from the kitchencow @ livejournal page left to reformat. Crossing my fingers I can update and tag everything before June ends, so I can move on to other—projects. *big grin*
  • Removed the archives from the sidebar and gave it its own page. Thanks to a handy dandy plug-in from Geek With Laptop, it’s easier to navigate because the titles from each month’s entries slide out. Of course, there’s always the search function for more specific searches.
  • Updated a few static pages, and streamlined my categories. I’ve rewritten the site information, a backgrounder on bento, plus a few more informative tidbits. I’ve also included a contact form so if you’d like to discuss something in private, please feel free to use it.
  • Finally, just wanted to point out (especially since I made a customized RSS feed chicklet, heehee) that Kitchen Cow has a feedburner powered feed. Just click on the subscribe button on the sidebar then choose your preferred RSS feed aggregator. No more missed entries, as feedburner collects excerpts and the front page photos from every entry, as it comes out.

Feedback? Requests? Suggestions? Want to know the name of the cow on the site banner? Leave me a note, whether through this post, or via the contact form. I’ll look forward to hearing form you.
