Krispy Kreme Baked Creations: All Hail Bacon!

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Anything’s better with bacon, worshippers of the Church of Bacon claim. Who am I to argue? Ever since I was small, bacon has been a favorite. To this day, we split bacon fair and square at my house, with skirmishes erupting when I try to sneak some off my mother’s plate. So what happens when bacon comes to Krispy Kreme? Krispy Kreme’s newest treat, Baked Creations

I received an intriguing invitation. They were launching a new product, obviously, but what did the question, “Are you sweet or savory?” mean? My first guess was, “THEY’RE PUTTING BACON ON KRISPY KREMES!” My heart promptly skipped a beat, imagining how lovely the fusion would be.

A Very Yummy Evening at Tosca, Dusit Thani

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Fairly recently, I was lucky enough to be invited to a small Christmas gathering arranged by local food magazine Yummy. I was quite excited about it for two reasons. Potato Soup

Please sir, may I have more soup?

Making my way to Tosca, the hotel’s signature Italian restaurant, that evening, I was warmly welcomed by the Yummy crew. I was seated with Managing Editor Paulyn Chang-Afable and a few other blogger friends. We were having an animated conversation about our day jobs, blogging and food, but it all came to a halt as they brought out the soup course. An innocuous looking potato soup served with a dollop of sour cream and a sprig tarragon, we were all blown away as we dug in and unearthed generous chunks of very flavorful lemon-grilled shrimp. The shrimp totally made the soup and we were all hankering for more afterwards. In fact, it became the evening’s mantra, “I want more soup!”

In the kitchens of Healthy Shabu-shabu though, a different rivalry brews as two new ingredients enter the fray, vying for the title of best Shabu-shabu: Wagyu and King Crab!

Veggies

Oh veggies, don’t feel bad. We love you too!

Dedicated to providing delightfully luxurious dining experiences to the local scene, Healthy Shabu-shabu has brought in these two prized ingredients to tantalize our taste buds. There’s the highly prized King Crab, a hard-to-catch crustacean that yields succulent white crab meat.
